Separation

Separation

We separated
At birth I came out the womb
But more than an umbilical cord was cut
A heart was torn into a thousand shreds
Before it had the ability to beat
See the world had something different in store for me
Not a mother or father in sight
I became separated from the root of the rose
We grew like a thorn to a rose does
Never touching but bleeding if caught onto a petal

We separated
The way the moon fell out of love with the sun
But still chased her as night turns to day
You burnt me to my core
You set me ablaze in front of the world
And told me to find God
For I was Satan Child
I was a barbarian
Looking for love in the coldest of places
How could I have got it so wrong
To believe that she would love me
That she would break herself for me
That she would love me
How dare I
So foolishly believe that my own blood,
My own flesh and bones
Would set me alight
For moths to eat

We separated
At birth
But I still long for you Oh Mother
I long for what you should’ve been
And what I can be
But even the longing is tired now
I do not wish for anything
Except peace within my soul.
