For Suraaj

step
the grown thuds,
coffin goes under
soil put on top,
the prayer recited
shrieks from parents
more prayers
a scatter to see the body
pray for the body that lays under

his life,
their lives,
a tragedy among tragedies
fire now fills my heart
my blood like dragons breathing upon their prey

a boy so naive,
full of life,
eyes raging in a race against life
no boundaries, no filter
pure joy
exhilarating
celebrating his birthday
his soul free
free, was taken up to the greats
they needed him up there,
more than we needed him down here

this world is a mere travellers abode.
don’t forget that.

you won’t be forgotten
