Divorce me, I say, three times
Shrieking can be heard in the courtyard
Glass smashes, making a charade of a painting
Blood and skin thickens thriving to protect the body from pain
The heart now abandoned, left to beat without an owner
Divorce me I shriek, three times
A house shatters to the ground
Obliterated
The stars up above shake in colossal
God looks down at his People, In pity
In shock that the words have been even uttered
Divorce me, I wail
I lay in nights where I scream at God
God forsake me from this eternity of hell
Rid me of this man,
This man who won’t let me pray,
Won’t let me bathe myself, won’t let me adorn myself in all your riches
Do you not understand, his faith is twisted
He has taken one extreme to another
And I a Woman, a Lady, A Servant of you Lord
Now lay ruined
Belly full, awaiting the birth of two children
Swell, aching in a pain further than the roots of hell
A pain from the tender flesh that sits in the middle of the chest
Tears do not do justice
An ocean grew from this home
A river that began from a single drop, grew into a colossal ocean,
Now whales bathe and wallow in this sorrow with me
The wailing begins, and continues for an eternity
Divorce me, I shriek.
Three times.
Lord forgive me for my sins.
And understand I destroyed myself over and over for this man I love.
No one can comprehend what pain it takes for me to even whisper this word.
But please.
Allow this divorce, dear God.
