Navigating this new found territory,
The controller of my own destiny,
Manoeuvring the mountains around me,
Leaving them in the landscape,
I have climbed painfully,
Rocks have crumbled in my hands,
Sand falling like beads through my fingers,
I have placed my foot into solid roots,
Thought they were strong,
And still have fallen again and again,
This journey of thrashing down, and lifting myself up again,
This mountain I have climbed,
Has bought much cold to the body,
Yet I am burning up the dead inside of me,
Skeleton burnt to its core,
Spirits that I had to let go of,
Reforming, having to restart,
Embers were set alight only last year,
and since this fire won’t stop burning,
I am the mountain climber,
Who never can stop climbing,
As a child you would see me hunched,
Under rockS,
Fingers smashed in,
Body barely able to carry its own organs,
Hanging off the mere fragment of aunties, cousins, and ama,
Then the iceburg broke,
and fell straight through the last of all that I had,
I was launched into the tsunami,
Started from the bottom again,
Roots of Ama laid steady,
Already having had planted seeds,
I began over,
Climbed, one foot at a time,
I am still disjontled,
In this mere fragment of time,
but with the strength of knowing it will all be over soon,
Unfinished…
