No Saving Them

It’s as if,
All the scorching pain of the earth and it stars, the dying forests, and the senseless killings,
All engorged into one, and landed into his eyes,
The emptiness soaring,
He has become blank,
I selfishly, embrace his pain,
I try to protect,
But he is my own blood and bones,
Selling him lies about hope,
The pain has run him dry,
He looks lifeless,
His eyes like mine,
I see my own reflection in him.
He is only 21.

Then there are those,
Who’s home has been flooded,
A hurricane has remained in their house
For over 30 years,
No beauty in children can create peace,
Or replace this suffering,
I want to run when I see them,
There is no saving them,
And it’s frightening to watch them die,
I thought they would find some light,
I would resurrect my body to save them,
So they could be have some shelter from this debt,

Death has fumigated every inch of my family,
There is no easing the suffering,
Once, twice, thrice,
There is no type of Resilience to lessen the taste of cold,
On the announcement of lost ones,
Or those who are departing,
I sit on the side of hospital beds.
Waiting rooms,
Empty homes crowded with strangers,
Attempting to not be selfish in my tears,
I even let go of them,
Try to see the beauty in this inevitable guaranteed gift,
But how many deaths must someone suffer.
To learn a lesson?
What is there to understand here ?
The home that once was, is now a house,
Bricks and cement, with heartless people,
All those that have hearts are either dead or dying,

From which part of my body must I let go?
The eyes, or the heart,
Or the concept of Home?
Should I give up on Love,
On the writhing hope that one day it will change,
No matter how much I dictate my own life,
It’s unparalleled to what is happening to them,
It’s as if I begin drowning with them,
Only four days , and I am swung into the Typhoon,
I have drowned,
Survived and drowned again,
Their way of existence is my living nightmare,
But it’s their reality.

They all are dying,
Whilst I prepare my own death.
Letters to all of them does not suffice,
Words are simply not enough.

I cannot save them.
