This aching pain of my heart
As if someone stabbed a hole so deep
And when I say aching I don’t mean the dull pain in your leg when you scrape it
I mean an aching that your whole body leans over in pain
Your whole being aches to find support from elsewhere
This aching that spreads to your limbs and your smile leaves your face
This aching is heavy, it’s painful
Sharp stabbing to the wound that is already cut up
As Women, despite whatever happens
We wrap up our wounds
Try once more
Try twice more
Try thrice more
We women, aching backs, full bellys find ourselves leaning into a love that isn’t meant for us
A love that doesn’t want us and yet does not even deserve us
An aching pain that aches through each bone, through each joint and ligament of my skeleton
I ache, in search of a love that heals my pain.
You leaving left me aching.
I tried. Over and over.
Cried so much,
And you had nothing but a sorry to say,
Told me I was overreacting .
You left me aching
