Growing Apart?

Like feathers floating from the sky
Gently laying on the ground
Picked up by a child who makes a wish
That is what you are to me
These signs you send to me Father
Find their way into my life like a feather floating from the sky
You come in forms of plants, people and butterfly’s
Find yourself deeply etched into the layers that make up my life
But recently I’ve grown distant
Growing apart is an understatement
I thought I heard your voice and cough during taraweeh last week
It punched me straight in the stomach
I found myself fall to the ground kneeling,
Struggling to breathe
Your presence, your voice, your absence now all present

My recent distance from God makes me wonder
If I ever will be able to see you again
Even this ideology that you are not here,
I thought I had it hacked
Thought I’d understood the concept of life and death
Thought I had it worked out to the T
But yet still I grieve
The idea that you were once here
That I used to wait in urgency for you to come home
Where are you now ?
You 40, Me turning 22 soon
What a world that I live I
Where you couldn’t witness the growth of your only daughter

Father father
Will I ever see you again?
What if I go to “hell”
What if we never cross paths again
Who will call on my name fully
Say it in Might?
For you are the one who named me after yourself
Your Aftab, your sun will surely glow
Ameera, the princess you wanted so triumphantly is growing
I have recently discovered a part of myself that is trying to grow free
When I have escaped this earth
Maybe we will intertwine through wind that is the sky
Flowing freely into the atmosphere in the earth
With death comes life right
Most righteous was my father
