I was born Sad

I sometimes believe I was born Sad
The devil must’ve caught his horns by accident into my hair
And latched on tightly at the roots
Must’ve wrapped his hands around each strand,
Must’ve molested my eyes, made them dark brown
Made it so my lips grew big, with a violent tongue
Made it so my heart grew black, withered

But this is a lie
Because if you see pictures of me,
If you see pictures of me as a child
You will see me smiling,
I, smiled with such a smile
Echoed it through photographs
But yet my eyes managed to tell a different story
My laugh got stolen amongst the horrors I saw in my own home
My body obstructed eternally forever

I sometimes believe I was born sad,
Because this harrowing sorrow I feel
Even when I am surrounded byclose few around me
I find myself cold, alone,
Find myself looking around into the distance
As if a ghost is ready to pick me up off my street
Send me to hell, throw me through the doors, and see my worst enemy

I sometimes believe I was born sad
Alone,
Dry eyes.
Hold up your whole life on your shoulders
Burdens don’t let them break your back child
Just hoist them up deep on your spine
Hold them with all your might child
Child hold your tongue
Tell lies
Have a heart full of gold but don’t let anyone recognise it
Be alone child
Be alone in this fierce world
Have no one there but you stay strong child
Don’t let them ever break you down
