To my future daughter,
I solemnly swear,
on the ground that I walk, by the Moon,
by the Sun and the axis of the Earth,
I will love you selflessly, undeniably and wholly,
I will shower you in understanding,
my tongue will never be sharp towards you,
I will never cut ties with you if you are different to I,
because I understand that children are never yours to begin with,
They are the universes sweet gift,
coated in nine months of a soul that grows inside of you,
Your insides moulding to fit new life,
So how dare I want to change you?
My daughter, you will be loved,
I will never rip your heart out of your chest,
Will never sell you off to find your own feet,
I will love you indefinitily,
even in my own pain, I will love you,
you will be free,
I will never carry the pain of my own, onto you,
Because by the time I have you, I will be lighter, be free of it all,
I will only liberate love and joy,
I will only wish you freedom, and protection,
Will not mollycoddle you into my expectations,
Nor make you into something that I was not,
nor all that I did not have,
nor into something that I want,
I will let you be simply wild,
To my future daughter,
I apologise that my own body may not ever be able to contain you,
but if I ever can,
I swear I will love you like Ama loved me
