Nine Years

Nine years
Of grief
Have never sufficed
For the Man you once were

Only now
We create in effort
To reignite your aura

There is beauty in your loss,
In every space of a memory
In which you would’ve loved
We keep your soul alive

You ever heard of mourning?
Nine years on?
Knees at graves
Deep in mud,
Rain overhead
Eyes bloodshot,
Mouths murmuring the same prayer,

Ama says we never let you rest,
That you feel our hurt
But I realise how wrong she is
Their is beauty in the loss of you father
The loss of our mother,
But their is art even within death

Life is bitter
Death is sweet

Art is made.

I live for the art.
