Sometimes we lose People
To lessons, to stories, to different paths,
A redefining of words in an alphabet,
I grew a new tongue and formed a new mouth,
Not coated in toffee or sweetener,
I was given lemons to drink for breakfast,
Forced a new philosophy down my throat,
Riddled in confusion,
Only to find myself accepting the iron burns,
Saying Yes, to where I should’ve said No.
Sometimes we lose people,
Out of Necessity,
So one can respect the Higher self,
The duty that is bound to the Rights of our own body,
Our responsibility to respect thyself,
Our spirit lives in the Vehicle in which we communicate ,
If we do not respect,
How can one expect others to?
Boundaries that weren’t once there,
Now cast into iron,
A mould that I knew was there,
But refused to believe,
Told myself that it was fine,
But it was not,
I bleached my eyes,
Told myself the burning was fine,
Attempting to undermine what is inhumane,
Sometimes I lose friendships,
Where it it is needed to let go,
To merge with the full of spectrum of colours awaiting your return,
But it is still as if a knife with a swift blade;
Skims the surface of my heart,
My stomach is left winded,
From the Blindness of People,
Who’s only passion are themselves,
And fail to see others who truly See them,
There is truth in Seeing,
In attempting to unravel the emotions of others,
Better yet Joy, in magnificence, in celebration,
It is what makes us Human,
The capability of comprehending,
Feeling in truth ,.
In its entirety,
Sometimes I am disappointed in myself,
That even after my Mother,
I have let People in who sever my heart strings,
In a way in which is creative,
They play me like a guitar,
Their fingers plucking away,
Not realising that the strings are attached to organ,
That though my skin is rough, having thrived in adversity,
Though I’m the symbols on sheet paper
Writing and rewriting my own history,
I feel, thoroughly ,
I did not cut off my emotions in the process of being abused,.
It baffles me, that even after years of having left,
I deadened my intuition,
Despite all alarm bells ringing,
For growth, I put myself through an oven
Held the Men in an esteemed level he is not,
The sickening part is,
My heart still sees friendship,
I cannot undo my tongue of sweetness,
Harshness cannot reside in me ,
I cannot become mean,
I have Let Go,
But I still See him for Him
Will continue to celebrate and congratulate,
But he will never Me,
This burn has left callouses.
When I was a child,
Beaten, tortured, played with like a Doll,
I found every hiding spot in the house
Woke up to bruises, and cuts,
A constant dulling of ears through screams,
Yet still,
I flourish, grinning from ear to ear,
One thing that can never be said for my Heart is that it’s bad,
It has been hurt so much
I can never wish that upon another,
That is why I Celebrate.
To shine light where it should be shone
