On observing the Heart

on observing heartbreak,
I have watched how the lake erupted,
across my spirit, in chest, as it fell into a cascade,
my whole body became a waterfall,
every limb flowing limp,
how my skin could not forget his,
his scent not erased from my neck,
Words became lost in broken poetry,
Stole my tongue and my teeth,
I became blind, from the aftermath of love,
I destroyed myself to feel every sensation,
But began to sensationalise,
despite drawing borders in court, reparations for self,
to reinform, to reeducate, to remind myself of the wolf,
could not even exchange a sentence back then,
could not stare at him in the eyes,
yet now,
the exchange now, between him and I,
is almost fantasy,
Him with another woman,
I, observing this movie from a screen,
Observing, not letting the breath catch alight,
No feeling that would let me drown,
Before I was the character,
Now I watch with the Controller,
Heart in hand,
observing how the beating muscle in my chest ignites or rests,
It rests, the heart does not fire in his presence,
Tears do not leave my orbs as if muscle memory,
Instead, warm compassion is fed up through my insides,
Offered to him on plate that is filled with sweetness,
dates and figs offered upon my tongue,
I have watched myself flourish into the rivers that now flow,
Silence full of sustenence and flora and fauna,

She watches Him,
While he watches Me,
He reeks regret in his eyes,
I see his posture trying to make amends for what is in his sight,
my body used to mesh together into his contours,
Yet now I sit, on a seat alone,
With a mighty stance in my expression,
Confused about every other decision, except this,
They both wonder what tribes I wave the flag for,
A force of nature sitting under the power of wind,
All elements alive in this one night,
As I sit, my feet ground me into the roots that once had no soil,
and I watch how the witchcraft of my hands perfrom a dance,
Joy from being entranced by the drummers of the night,
How they beat me into a trance,

Today, I watched this story come to a standstill,
Him, sitting with another Woman,
I, Sitting amongst the green and the heat,
The day has come,
I sit,
with peace,
today,
Wondering the irony,
How I wept for many months,
over a boy,
who could not love me,
and today,
I felt nothing.
