Roses

Stems have been broken,
Like spines wreck themselves to build all over again
To make a flower out of a seed
and to find themselves blooming
from root to flower
I find myself burdened in all that is Woman
This tale of being all that holds up a Nation
But yet broken down to dust, in the name and for the Name of a Man
But what is a Man?

I am a rose,
With petals as gentle as the night sky
yet so rough on the inside
A warrior so tough, yet her skin so smooth
I find myself fighting a war inside my own skull
Finding myself and reigniting what once so old
So cold, so rough, like diamonds
I find myself reigniting my entity
Throwing itself into this relentless country
into the heart of the cold,

A fire strikes
my Stem broken,
I struggle to lift this flower of mine and carry my own weight
Roots damaged from birth
Umbilical Cords shredded
I find this trauma of a world to cause me grief

But I as a Rose
Must stand strong despite my thorns
Rise high,
and glow so beautifully in Scent

I a Rose must find beauty in what was once so Ugly.
