skin development

Consolidating the love for my skin and this Pot of honey is like walking a new trail,
Attempting to not be so estranged to my arms and this body,
This skin is mine so I must wear it,
like a Queen I reign this sunshine through these rugged layers of melanin,
So I let the sun beat on my skin,
To pulp out the last bit of peach from under all that dirt that is left

I Ran from the mouth that stung and rung me out like wildfire,
The same one that wrenched and marked my skull,
Kneading relentlessly, cautiously,
Left me burnt,
So I began to avoid fires,
Anything that could get near enough to start a light,
I built cages to avoid the torment,
So I ran,

But now I am reinventing,
Finding grace in this soul, this honey coloured flesh,
These hips only bring joy to the world,
I found that between my legs lay a myriad of unticked, undone gifts,
that lay tucked away behind petals,
roses stuffed inside me, blooming from different lips,
its seems now those watching itch at the sight of difference,
 awaiting for the juice to drip,
silently from tongue to throat,
let the gasps I create envelope your chest,
slowly letting it marinade between the heart and the breath,
a drum beat, heaving, let it bounce, the air heavy now,
the rhythm of Caribana and Salsa fluttering,
on red silk and sandpaper,
How does it feel to be deceived,
I am so much more than this physical body,
I am fire,
I let them watch what I have become,

I will teach my daughters and sons,
of being compassionate to themselves,
and to others,
 I will tell them
let your hair grow,
let it grow long child,
and don’t you forget to say thank you.
